Museum Exhibit

The Museum I chose to go to is the National Museum of American History with the exhibitions being America on the Move. This exhibition is  about the methods of  transportation throughout the years for the United States of America. It goes through 19 sections of different builds of transportation. It was incredible to see how the nation’s transportation has changed over the years.

 Throughout the exhibition, there were artifacts that went well with the exhibit, including scaled and real life examples. Most memorable was the locomotive train station and the piece of Route 66. In some parts It was hard to see due to the lighting being dull. Although it could be to showcase these huge artifacts.

In this exhibit, the layout did not have many digital media spaces or close to none from what I’ve seen. Since it was a more life-scaled exhibit and showing real life. It coincides with the  structure of the exhibit. The purpose of this exhibit is to be interactive and see up close. It did not show much of QR codes.

The contribution of this exhibition was to make an example of how each method of transportation has made an impact on the economic growth of the United states, showing the importance of how the interstates in the U.S have created an impact on the nation. Also, contributing to that fact would be how far the nation has grown and their different necessities of transportation that reflects the demands during that time period. An example of that would be the movement of cargo containers as today the United States is ore involved in transports to and from other countries.

 This exhibit is for all ages as it is interactive for children of young ages and for those who are adults. They had a small station where kids can open different boxes and what is inside. Making it more interactive for those. As well, the target audience could be those who are interested in the history of the United States transportation system and its design over the years. Also this museum is in Washington D.C, where a lot of tourists come in and learn new facts about the United States.

With the making of this exhibition coming up, the project would be a bit time consuming due to the large artifacts and props that have been brought into the museum. Considering the cost of exporting real transports and preparing the props that showcase the exhibit.  As well, the concerns of how it all flows together concerning the different points in time of how the transportation in the U.S has changed some much over time.

In a way, yes it did showcase its main objective as showcasing the different methods of transportation. Although it is the Museum of American History I believe it could be updated a bit more. Involving newer methods of transportation. In this exhibit I believe it is behind in ways of involving technology. An example would be having a panel where it shows the interstate being built across the years.
