Onna-bugeisha played significant roles in defending their homes, families, and territories when necessary, particularly during times of war or when their male counterparts were absent. They were not only skilled fighters but also symbolizes courage, loyalty, and honor. Their presence on the battlefield challenged traditional gender roles and stereotypes, demonstrating the resilience and strength of Japanese women in a male-dominated society.

While the onna-bugeisha were not as numerous as male samurai, their impact was profound. They inspired legends, folklore, and artistic representations that celebrated their bravery and prowess. Their stories continue to influence Japanese culture, serving as symbols of feminine empowerment and resilience.
